Things to consider

This is not a foster to adopt opportunity. These dogs are all service dog candidates and you will be expected to uphold IHDI's training, guidelines, and procedures. If you are not following the guidelines, training, and/or procedures, IHDI reserves the right to terminate you from our foster program.

IHDI reserves the right to refuse a foster at any time for any reason and the foster parent reserves the right to refuse a foster dog at any time for any reason.

IHDI determines the criteria for fostering, decides which animals are eligible to foster, and all guidelines for training and care.

IHDI retains ownership of all dogs placed in foster care and will make all decisions regarding placement, acceptance into our hearing dog program, training, feeding, care, and medical treatment of all dogs being fostered.

All foster dogs through IHDI are NOT permitted to go to dog parks. Violations of this rule will result in termination from IHDI's foster program.

The foster parent will be required to make and record detailed observations at all times. All reports will be submitted online through the foster portal. The foster will also be required to provide these observations and training methods to IHDI staff and trainers upon request and/or at drop off of the foster dog.

IHDI does not make any guarantee relating to the animals' health, temperament, behaviors, or actions.

IHDI is not responsible for any property damage or personal injury suffered by you, members of your household, including your own animals or any third parties. It is the foster parent's responsibility to provide adequate controls to prevent such damage or injury.

Although these foster dogs are 'in training' to become hearing dogs, as a foster parent you do not have the same rights as the person with disabilities or the certified trainer and therefore not protected under the ADA law. You can only bring the foster dog with you to approved dog friendly places. Further, bringing the dog with you in public is only allowed with the approval of an IHDI staff member.

**By signing this application, you have read through and agree to all the things to consider.
