I have been involved with International Hearing Dog, Inc. for many years (I got my my first Hearing Service dog while still in college that was named Kirby and was actually trained by IHDI's predecessor American Humane Society at their “Denver Dog House”. He was the last dog they placed before becoming International Hearing Dog, Inc).
Cedar is the third Hearing Dog I've had from International Hearing Dog, Inc and he is a joy. He seems to be half Chihuahua and half Jack Russel Terrier with loads of personality from both sides, and in spite of his small size he thinks and acts big and is one of the most affectionate dogs I've ever had. While he defiantly has his moods and preferences at times and will let you know about them that's always part of the deal like in any relationship and he always gives more than he gets. And when it comes to work it an all out effort and he sometimes gets so excited trying to get me to respond to a door knock it's almost a show worth stopping and looking at just for it's own sake.
He is also the perfect gentleman out and about even while adjusting to my wheelchair and makes new friends wherever we go. And he always is at his best with young kids and other dogs around (that's important for a new grand dads to know) and the grand kids want to know, “Where's Cedar?” when I do a Skype call.
I'm more than honored to share my life with this little guy and fond new friend, he's added a lot to my life well beyond just his very good service training.
